Flooring Specialists — Request an Inspection
Request a Floor Inspection
To request a floor inspection, call (916) 313-9224 and have the short set of details below ready. That call starts a conversation — nothing is booked, charged, or agreed until scope, fee, and scheduling have been confirmed with you. This page explains exactly what to have ready, what happens next, and what an inquiry does and does not do.

Call to request an inspection
Inquiries on this site are by phone. Call David Craig at Flooring Specialists and describe your floor and your concern in a few words — that is enough to start.
What to have ready when you call
You will be asked only for what is needed to scope your concern:
- Name — so we know who we are speaking with.
- Your phone number — the number you can be reached on to confirm scope and schedule.
- Property city or ZIP — so coverage and any travel can be confirmed for the property’s location.
- Flooring type — hardwood or engineered wood, vinyl plank / SPC, tile, or “not sure.” Not sure is a perfectly good answer. Carpet, laminate, and other materials can also be described: for those, the product and concern are reviewed first to determine whether the work fits the assignment.
- A brief description of the concern — what you are seeing, where in the property, and when you first noticed it. A few sentences are enough.
You do not need photographs, documents, or a diagnosis to inquire. If you already have material you think is relevant, mention it on the call and it can be requested as part of the scope discussion.

What happens after you request a floor inspection
Your concern is reviewed
On the call, your concern is discussed against the flooring type and the property location, and coverage for your area is confirmed.
Scope, fee, and scheduling are confirmed with you
You receive a clear proposal: what the inspection would cover, what it would not cover, the fee, and the available scheduling. This confirmation happens before any visit. If the inspection does not fit your concern, that will be said plainly at this stage.
The inspection and written findings
Once scope, fee, and scheduling are agreed, the inspection is carried out within that agreed scope, using clear observations and appropriate testing. You then receive written findings, explained in understandable language.
Before hiring anyone for home work, it can help to read the FTC’s consumer guidance on hiring for home work, including checking credentials and getting agreements in writing.

Important — what an inquiry is not
Please read this before you call:
- An inquiry does not itself book an inspection. A booking exists only once scope, fee, and scheduling have been confirmed with you.
- An inquiry does not establish an expert-witness engagement. Those engagements — focused on California flooring matters, and possibly including technical review, a site inspection, report preparation, consultation, and testimony — are agreed separately, on their own terms.
- An inquiry involves no fee, commitment, or obligation to proceed.
- Findings from any eventual inspection will depend on the agreed scope, site conditions, and available information.
- No outcome — for a warranty question, an insurance or claim question, or a legal matter — is guaranteed or implied by making an inquiry or by commissioning an inspection.
Who can use this page
Homeowners, property managers, builders, contractors and installers, retailers, manufacturers, insurers, and attorneys all use the same inquiry process. If you are inquiring on behalf of someone else, or about a property you do not occupy, say so on the call — it helps with scoping and with arranging access.
Frequently asked questions
How do I request a floor inspection if I do not know my flooring type?
Just say you are not sure, and describe the floor and the concern as best you can on the call. Identifying the floor precisely is part of the scope discussion, not a requirement for inquiring.
How quickly will I hear back?
The call itself starts the process — there is no form to wait on for a reply. No response-time or availability promise is made on this page; if your matter is time-sensitive, say so on the call so it can be taken into account when scheduling is discussed.
Is there a set fee I can check before inquiring?
No fixed fee is published, because the right scope depends on the floor, the concern, and the property. You will always know the fee before an inspection is booked — scope, fee, and scheduling are confirmed in Step 2, before any visit.
My concern is part of a dispute. Should I mention that?
Yes — mention it in outline. It affects how the inspection may need to be scoped, and any expert-witness question is handled separately from a standard inspection inquiry.
What if my property is outside the usual areas?
Call and give the property’s city or ZIP. Coverage and travel are confirmed case by case; if the property cannot be served, you will be told honestly at the scope stage.
